Artist Textiles Picasso to Warhol

I recently went to see the 'Artist Textiles Picasso to Warhol' exhibition at the London Fashion and Textile Museum.
What a treat to see so many 20th century textile art from Cubism and Surrealism to Pop art in one place!! It was amazing to see that artists such as Braque, Calder, Chagall, Dali, Matisse, Picasso and Warhol (to name a few) applied their art to textiles... I had no idea they did so as I've only ever known about their famous works hung in Galleries or printed in Art History books.
The icing on the cake for me was the side exhibition 'Sarah Campbell from Start to Finish' which, very generously, showed the process of designing for textiles from commissions to rough sketches and artwork to finished product. My favourite from the exibition is New York artist/illustrator John Rombola's 'Circus'. It was his first textile design for Patterson Fabrics. Over the years I have kept my work hidden in my sketchbooks because I feel that either 'my work is not good enough' or 'someone else has already done this/that and if I do too mine won't be considered original'. More recently though I have started to 'put myself out there' by signing up for the Lilla Rogers MATs bootcamp, created a 'business' Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LucindaKidneyArtCraftDesign and entering various Illustration competitions (no success there yet but at least I've started).
Which leads me on to a quote by John Dewey "Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another."
